What defines art in Romanticism?
Romanticism as an art movement meant that the artist was allowed to give full vent to their emotions rather than choose themes or subjects from traditional classical or religious models. They often contain scenes of beauty or horror. Figures often become a part of the landscape rather than a dominant portrait and there is often an implicit story contained within the picture or sculpture.
